I’m Daffy Duck, an awesome orange female polydactyl tripod kitty. I was brought to a Brooklyn shelter on May 28, 2015 with an awfully busted up leg. The shelter docs thought that I was either dragged by a car or mangled in a car engine, due to the traumatic nature of the break and other internal injuries. They also noticed that I had been hobbling around on the streets of New York with that bum leg for at least a month! Ouch!
The docs said I was super affectionate with a great personality, but within a few days, the shelter kill listed me… all because of my bum leg! Just when I thought my time was up, Justin, Fire Survivor swooped in and rescued me! He saved my life! https://www.facebook.com/justinfiresurvivor
On June 6, 2015, I became part of #thekittykrusade. Since the docs think I’m about a year old, that’s my new birthdate: June 6!
Jman took care of me, and on June 16, I had surgery to amputate my left hind limb. Buh-bye, bum leg! I did so good in recovery (well, aside from wiggling out of my ecollar… #ecollarfreedom!) that I was soon ready to go to my forever home. Cleared for takeoff!
On June 28, 2015, exactly 1 month after I was brought into the shelter and 12 days after my surgery, I took the best road trip ever and crossed 5 state lines to get to my forever home in the Shenandoah Valley, Virginia. I now live with my new human mom, Shelly, and my new fur siblings – Polly, my roommate when Justin rescued me, Merlin, a 13 year old male ragdoll kitty, and Ziva, a 2 year old female dilute calico kitty. You’ll see them around here, too!
You’ll also see some posts about the Jade Paw Project. My human started this project to raise money for animal rescue organizations. Twice a year, she sells upcycled cat and dog figurines that have been painted green and donates the proceeds to an organization that saves special pets just like me. You can find the Jade Paw Project on Facebook, too, at https://www.facebook.com/jadepawproject.
I am so thankful for everybody that has sent me #pawpower to get healthy and strong and happy again. Much love!! You can find me on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/daffyandfriends. Thanks, everybody!
